hello! So this morning, outreach went to library walk to pass out coffee and butter croissants. I was very encouraged to see that people really appreciated and enjoyed a free breakfast. Many of the students and faculty asked us why we are doing this, and we responded by saying, “we are trying to actively show love to the people on this campus.” While we were passing this food out, I really wrestled with my heart. The people on this campus gladly took this free, and impersonal gift. Then I compared this with random evangelism and sharing the free gift of salvation. Usually the response is indifference, or a heated debate.

These responses are completely different, but are both actions really to share the love of Christ?? I wondered if people could really come to know Christ by handing out food to people who will probably not remember our faces if we ever bump into them again.

(my class is going to end soon so ill end it really quickly)

I realized that both actions are very necessary for witnessing to people who do not know Christ! People knowing that a group of Christians want to love our campus makes Christ and what we preach more credible if our actions show that He has changed us!

(ahh class is ending in 3 mins!)

i will just end with this verse! 1 John 3:18 “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”

Lets really live out our faith and share the good news with not only talk, but also action! (both are equally important!)

"Helper of Mankind"

I will call her Jane. I actually didn’t EV, instead I was lying on the grass reading my bible and was supposed to be praying for those who were just sent out. I was reading over the book of Daniel when I saw her again! Jane was sitting on a bench eating her lunch (she was on break from work). I’ve actually EV’ed to her before, and this would be my third time talking her. I got up and just sat with her and just asked her if I could sit in with her as she ate lunch.

She didn’t mind. She usually cracks about a joke about me being spiritual and ‘saving the world’, but we had a wonderful conversation about the environment, current events, and even our pasts. She’s a bit old in age, I’d guess around her 50s? She’s currently working in the music department in Geisel. My prayer for her would be that as we develop this relationship (I’m pretty sure I’ll see her again.. and often) that I would be able to actively show her God’s love.

She grew up in a Catholic home, but lost a lot of faith in mankind for screwing up the planet. I asked her what her name meant and interestingly it means “helper of mankind”, which I though was ironic because she’s passionate about preserving natural life. I pray that even in her old age, God would revive the dreams and visions of her heart. (she has lots of regrets) and that She would find redemption in Him.

For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.” Daniel 9:16-19

Yesterday me and Joanne reached out to Michelle. She has recently been going to church but cannot fully commit and accept Jesus because her mom is a buddhist and is very strongly against Christianity. She has to call her mom before church and bible study and lie to make sure her mom doesn’t call her during the service/bible study. Anyways surprisingly she sent us back an email last night. I think this is a perfect chance to follow up but don’t know how I should do so.
